Greece’s airports nationwide have reached new heights, welcoming over 34.4 million passengers in the first seven months of the year, which marks a 10.1 percent rise from this time last year, according to the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA).
HCAA data revealed a total of 289,453 flights (113,694 domestic and 175,759 international) took place in the January-July period, increasing by 8.3 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2017 with 267,253 flights.
In July, 9,923,674 passengers went through Greek airports, up by 8.9 percent, and 77,882 flights, up by 9.7 percent compared to the corresponding month last year with 71,012 flights.
The country’s busiest airports in July were those of Athens, Heraklion, Rhodes, Corfu, and Thessaloniki, while the airports of Sitia on Crete saw a 101.9 percent increase, Milos was up by 74.4 percent and Naxos recorded a 60.1 percent increase.
